         The heart rending death of workers who were sleeping on railways tracks, exhausted during their 700 km walk to home highlights the plight of workers today.

        In India  even if 3% of the infected people die, it would means thousand or lakhs of life lost, depending upon how many people are infected. it will quickly ovrwhelm our weak health infrastructure.

                 The State and the Central Government had made the arrangement for the migrants by organising Shramik Trains and  bus service. For Interstate travel the Government has income up with some Guidelines which one needs to follow to travel back home.

• When is a Medical Certificate needed?

          The medical certificate is needed for those migrants who are travelling by road or by a personal vehicle. There is no need of the certificate for the people travelling via trains.

• What is the whole process?

          After submitting the form the state police obtain permission from the nodal officer of other states means if someone wants to move from Maharashtra to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh or etc. then the data of the applicant is recorded and pass is issued only when the Migrant's Home state Police confirms the detail.

            For travelling by train the state sees the migrants that have apply for it. Then it co-ordinates with the railway and schedule a train for them.

           Some state make arrangement for buses too.

• What can be done if you don't have a personal vehicle? 

          If you don't have a personal vehicle and you want to return to your home town. Then you should make a group of 25 people with the details & medical certificate of each and everyone. Then submit the same to the police. Then after the review of the form the police will grant a permission to rent a Bus and return to the Home Town.
          It is necessary to follow the guidelines given by the government and work accordingly. so that one does resort to any illegal or reach home and invite more trouble.
          But it is advisable to not take any unnecessary step. As it can increase the risk of coronavirus spread.
